Smoke detectors should be installed on every level of a home, including the basement and near sleeping areas.
Can the smoke detector detect carbon monoxide (CO)?
No. But we do offer a carbon monoxide detector separately.
How often should the smoke detector be tested?
Smoke detectors should be tested at least once a month to ensure they are functioning properly.
Does the smoke detector have expiration dates?
Yes the smoke detector generally have a lifespan of around 10 years, after which they should be replaced even if they appear to be working correctly.
Can the smoke detector detect all types of fires?
The smoke detector is designed primarily to detect smoke particles from fires, but their effectiveness can vary depending on the type of fire.
Can the smoke detector be installed in areas prone to high humidity or steam, like bathrooms or kitchens?
While installing the smoke detector in kitchens or bathrooms is not recommended due to potential false alarms from cooking or steam, detectors should be placed in adjacent rooms where smoke can be detected without the risk of false alarms
